Dr Terri Janke is a Meriam Wuthathi woman and warrior for the protection of Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) rights in Australia and internationally.
Twenty-two years ago, Terri (a mother of two small children at the time) founded her own commercial law firm to specialise in ICIP and further Indigenous empowerment.
Today, there are 16 Indigenous and non-Indigenous lawyers working together at Terri Janke and Company to empower Indigenous people to create and prosper.
During this interview with Ngalaya, Terri shares her early years in the legal industry, her work on Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property, and building her own commercial law firm to further Indigenous empowerment. Terri also gives advice to Indigenous young people and aspiring lawyers.
